Carpinteria Lock & Key

Our front door lock, handle, etc. needed replacement. I found Carpinteria Lock and Key online and called. Ricky answered the phone, asked me to send pics of the equipment, found a replacement, sent me a picture of it and gave me a reasonable quote. We set an appointment two days later and he came on time and professionally completed the job. He even drove out of town to find the equipment at no extra cost. Payment by credit card was easily available too. He was very communicative

UPDATE-2/23/2026 Everything I said in my original review still holds. Misplaced my keys...again... which makes me a repeat customer and though its been about a year and some small change, instant recognition. Even got a warm hug as a greeting. From call to completion maybe 20 minutes. Literally has a workshop in the back of his van and very clean and organized. Ricky can and will make duplicate keys and fobs on the spot for ya, too. He prices things quite fairly, for sure. These guys are awesome, Ricky in particular. I was locked out of a storage room in my house and called them. They said they were happy to come out but couldn’t be there for a couple hours. Offered to let me know if there was an alternative way to get open the lock if I texted them a photo. I did that and they walked me through getting the door open at no cost. Not to mention they quoted $125 for a lockout, which seems completely reasonable.

Pathetic. Ricky stole $200 that I had given him in good faith to make keys for my car. I paid a deposit to him by Zelle to make a key. It’s been three weeks and he has not provided anything to me. I texted him over ten times and he didn’t bother answering them. I called him many times requesting to get my deposit back because he did not fulfill his end of the transaction. He ghosted me. Totally unethical. I consider him a thief. What a waste.
