Center Street Parking Garage

Center Street Parking Garage is close to many businesses and UC Berkeley, which is why parking rates are higher compared to other parking garages from Downtown Berkeley. Basically, it’s $3/hr until your 4th hour, which is $25. These parking garage levels are quite complex because their names start with a number and then letter (e.g. 4E), which is why I had a hard time looking for my car since I only relied on just the parking level rather than its name. Be careful not to park overnight and then the next day. Some reviewers said that they can’t go to their cars since they arrived outside of hours of operation and ended up paying way more most likely because their cars are parked the next day and that parking rates are enforced. I needed the ev charging not the parking I didn’t like having to pay for parking in addition to charging… and the signal is almost none so downloading the app for charging meant going out to the street. But I got the charging needed so I gave three stars. Like how wonderful is a parking garage supposed to be… charging is a plus.

Signage is unclear and there was not an evening sign out after 5pm to make it clear. I see in some of there parking lot picture they put out an evening sign this was not put out when I drove in. In small print there is mention of an evening rate both on this and entrance, but in large print is says $3hr. On this picture it even have the $3 by the time Mon-Friday 5:30am -1am I was is the lot for 32minutes and had to pay $9 for entering after 5pm. I feel so ripped off and even to have a policy where someone could be in your lot for less than a hour and pay $9 is a bad practice.

Pro: location, well lit, good stair access Con: as others commented, the pricing structure is very odd and signage is inadequate leading to surprisingly high fees Also, it closes at night and doesn’t open until the next business day.

**TERRIBLE! DON’T BE FOOLED BY SIGNAGE AND TOTALLY MISLEADING!!!** Read between the lines. Was there overnight and paid $58. Called ahead of time and guy said it was $25 for overnight stay. Put the ticket in and it asked for $58. Just don’t trust anything they say, hidden charges. Horrible.
