Excellent experience with John and his crew to replace an old, existing deck. They built a new substructure and new Azec deck from start to finish within a week. Exceptional attention to detail and went above and beyond to provide a wonderful result. John had excellent communication within the day. The whole project was completed within 3 weeks from the day we finalized the plans, ordering the materials, taking care of the permitting, to the day of completion. I can’t say enough good things about this company. All contractors should work at this level of professionalism. 2 year follow up: Deck looks as good as new. Very impressed with the detail and quality of service and product!!!

We contacted Custom Built Fence and Deck for suggestions about building a deck in the rear of our house in Grayslake, Illinois. Our 25 year old concrete patio was sinking and the 4 slabs were all at different levels making it a danger to walk on. Father and son from Custom Built came out and walked us through several suggestions and we decided to have a deck built over the patio. The two men who installed our deck were true master craftsmen. Their attention to detail and the care they took to insure there was no damage to our connecting house , grass or shrubs was terrific. At the conclusion of the work we did a walk thru and the workmanship was first rate, not one flaw was seen in the entire deck. I would highly recommend the company for deck work John and Janice

Horrible. We contracted Custom Built Fence and Deck to build a fence around our backyard on May 12th, it took about 2 weeks to get the final quote. Custom Built Fence did not even start to put up our fence until July 2nd, nearly 2 months later, when we were initially told they could start the very next week. Custom Built Fence was not communicative throughout the entire process, the only time I would hear from them was when I reached out. Each week I was told something about the city not clearing permits or that Julie could not be scheduled to come out. I would like to add here that we had another contractor come in the week after our fence was put up, he had acquired permits and had Julie out to mark the lines in our yard within 48 hours, clearly Custom Built Fence was behind, if they had
