Dozer Days

What an incredible event for kiddos interested in construction. Lots of opportunities to get inside heavy equipment and see how they work. The scavenger hunt was a wonderful component as well. I highly recommend this event!

Once a year in October they do Dozer Day, Sponsored by the Nutter Foundation. All about the work trades and geared toward kids and learning things about the work trades. Lots of contacts for adults looking for work /connections in the local trades. Great part, on dozer day, kids get to sit secondary in excavators and dozers while they are operated.

Plan ahead and you can have a great time. It’s definitely busier the later it gets, we came around 2pm on Sunday and we waited about 30 minutes to ride the excavators. Ages 2-12 can ride with an operator. They also had a separate section where kids 12+ could run the machines themselves. This year there were bounce house games in one of the indoor warehouses, along with laser tag and putt putt golf. It was a nice break from the sun! Plenty of food options, but not many allergy friendly, so bring your own food if that’s a need. There was no free water so definitely bring your own water bottles. I was worried this wouldnt be good because of the reviews from yesterday but it was actually pretty awesome. The dozer and excavator lines were long but moved fairly quickly. There were about 4 dozers and 4 excavators to choose from. Several different areas of sand pits for the kids. A scavenger hunt at all the booths to collect stickers for the hard hats the kids get at the gate. Once you collect them all you get a prize. Most of the booths have games or toys and things the kids can take home. Giant tires to climb on. Hula hoop contest and stage with music where the kids can dance. Kids can maneuver the arm on a garbage truck, get in an ambulance or a police car, get inside and operate a crane......just so much to do. A lot of opportunities to play in sand or gravel with toy excavators.

This was a strange setting. 1 safety was extremely concerning. The dozers that were circling the stadium had children standing while only holding onto a bar. Now, this is where it gets weird.. there were kids fully sitting in a random strangers lap for a bumpy ride around a track.. I'm sorry, but that is NOT OK, and many people agreed with me. You would think there would be some sort of seating mechanism created for kids to sit in, but no, they full on expected the kid to sit in a full-grown man's lap. Now I will say my son using the diggers in the back of the event was awesome. Next time around, focus on safety for the kids to be seated NOT on a man's lap and also have the booths think of better events. If the company is going to use golfing to get free gear, maybe set up some proper gr
