My central AC unit had been malfunctioning for several years—working only intermittently during the hottest months. I had multiple HVAC companies come out to diagnose the problem, and each one gave me a different (and costly) opinion: replace the entire system, install new lines, and so on—potentially totaling tens of thousands of dollars. Frustrated, I decided to troubleshoot the issue myself and eventually identified the culprit: a faulty filter dryer. Emerald HVAC saved us in the middle of a heat wave! Our A/C was flooding, and after calling a few companies for help, Emerald was the only one who could get to us quickly. José did a great job on what turned out to be a minor issue. He showed me what was wrong and also replaced a water sensor (which had failed to shut the unit off before overflowing and leaking into the floor). I came home to my condo in Boston the evening of July 12th and the temperature inside had moved up to 86 degrees. The electric breaker had been tripped. We were at the beginning of an intense heat wave and the temp in my unit climbed to 96 degrees. I called my HVAC tech and he never called me back. I went on Angi and requested that HVACs contact me. He scheduled a tech visit on Tuesday, 7/16 and the tech determined, after. a few hours of testing, that the condenser and electrical components of the outside unit had failed.
