First General Services

We had heard from friends and neighbors about horror stories involving contractors and remodeling projects. Fortunately for us, this is NOT one of those stories. Our bathroom remodel could not have gone better. A complete demolition of the old master bathroom and installation of the new bathroom took only 7 weeks. Actual demolition took only 2 days. Troy, the owner of First General Services, took personal control of our remodeling project. The crew he sent to do the work was FANTASTIC! Their professionalism and expert attention to detail was excellent. The remodel was total. Demolition removed the old shower stall, the tub, all of the flooring, the vanities, lighting, wall mirrors, overhead fan, shower/tub/vanity fixtures, and wall tile. I would stay AS FAR FROM FIRST GENERAL SERVICE AS YOU CAN. YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR TIME AND NEEDLESSLY RAISING YOUR STRESS LEVEL. I submitted a claim in Dec 2024, which was authorized in Feb 2025. I asked if the work could be done in Aug 2025, First General had no issue with this request. Since Aug, NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE, and I have never been contacted by them despite receiving the insurance companies check (USAA). I was assigned three project mgrs during the process, each more incompetent than the last. The final mgr was actually the company owner, who had no problem ignoring my calls as efficiently as the others. Finally, USAA voided the check and I am now on the lookout for a new company. Ten months out the window and wer'e still left with all the damage.

In our desperate time of need when we had a major water leak in our home, First General Services was recommended by my Home Insurance Company. We were so happy to find a professional company that answered our call with a quick response time. When you literally feel like your home is sinking, you require a lifeline. Our estimator came to our home and put us at ease with his knowledge of how the process of repairing our home would work. We found a real lifeline in our project manager Kevin Ashby. He answered our message and was at our home in the same day. Kevin has worked in the industry and has a vast knowledge of many different aspects in the home improvement field. These guys were great. We had a pipe leak that destroyed our kitchen floors and cabinets, and destroyed drywall and carpet in the basement. The first contractor was horrible. He took forever to even provide an estimate, then flaked on the job altogether. First General took over and were on top of it from the start. They made the basement look like new, matched the hardwood perfectly and replaced our kitchen cabinets along with designing and installing a new pantry. I had some roof and interior damage from a fallen tree limb and First General Services was great to work with. They came over right away to check out the damage and write up an estimate. Kevin did an awesome job as our Project Manager. He worked with my insurance company so it was mostly a hands-off kind of deal for me. Everything has been repaired and looks as good as new. I'd recommend them to anyone.
