General Shale Brick

We used General Shale brick (Winterhaven) for our new house that we built last year. On one side of the house, there were some issues with the color of the brick matching (evidently, this is common for white brick especially if it doesn't all come from same lot). At first we thought it was the grout between the brick that was the problem, so the owner of the grout company sent workers out to re-stain the grout. However, it was discovered that it was the brick. General Shale sent out their staining expert and now the entire wall is uniform. It took a couple of tries to get the stain color correct, but they kept at it until we were satisfied. In addition, we had a small issue with a brick privacy wall. I don’t leave many google reviews… A few weeks ago, there was an honest accident of a certain type where costly property damage was done. General Shale was involved. I figured it was a shot in the dark, since most companies would ignore situations like this or tell me to go pound sand… but I reached out to them and got in touch with a very nice man at their Piney Flats office named John Morgan. John had the company investigate the situation and reached back out to me and told me that General Shale felt that in this particular situation, they were going to step up and “do the right thing.” Now, I have never been to or done any business with General Shale, and I don’t know anyone that works there. The staff at Johnsin City were very helpful. I was having a difficult time selecting a brick choice to match the exterior stone due to the color variations. I was put in touch which David Tester and he was excellent. He took the time to listen to my concerns and what I wanted to achieve as the end result. He suggested a few different colors of brick and then gave me places I could go drive by and see them. This was extremely helpful! It’s amazing how the mortar can change the look of the brick. After struggling for weeks, David helped me choose a brick in a couple of days. He really knows General Shale’s product and I am so grateful for the time he spent with me.

My wife and I recently purchased some material from General Shale. A young man named Timber Shaw delivered it to our home. He was the most respectful, well-mannered and pleasant young man. Everything was yes sir when I asked a question. It is nice to see we still have people like him in our young generation workforce. We would absolutely do business with this company again! General Shale should be proud to have someone like Timber representing their company!

I guess nobody has phones at their desks. I tried calling to speak to someone from human resources, got transferred and rang until it went to voicemail. Called back later a couple more times and can’t get through to anybody, it just rings until i goes to voicemail.
