Good place for local made fireplaces. Very well built. The only reason I am not giving five stars is I took one of my 2 Hitzer stoves in to be rebuilt after many years of service and they did not call back for over 2 years. When I went to inquire about it, they found it in a corner with my name on the tag. They then rushed to get it done and now the paint they used is peeling off. Coal prices are reasonable. If you shop around, you can find cheaper bulk and bagged. You will burn between 50-100 pounds of coal per day depending on outside temperature. The gravity feeding Hitzer (503) is much nicer then there bigger front filled (983). I also had a 354 model for wood, but it gave up its ghost after more than 30 years of service.

I bought a pellet stove for 6000 dollars and a pallet of their pellets to make sure I had good pellets with the expectations of having a good stove. We started using the stove and it didn't work right so we had Hitzers come out to see what was wrong. The stove wouldn't put out much heat, it just blew air. They wouldn't replace it with one that worked because there had been a fire built in it. Three years later I talked with another store that sold pellet stoves and was told the door sill is bad. Come to find out the frame of the stove is bent which is why the sill doesn't sill. I would not recommend buying a stove at Hitzers they don't stand behind their sale.

They spent time to give us a tour of the operation there. Wonderful people making great American prouducts. I would highly recommend checking them out if you were looking for furnaces/stoves etc.
