Home Remodeling by First Impressions

We hired First Impressions to do extensive work based on a friend's recommendation to remodel our entire main living level. That included a full modernization of our fireplace/mantel/new TV (the focal point of our greatroom); the kitchen - countertops, backsplash, oven, farm sink, rangehood, and a brand new updated island with a wine fridge. We also completely re did our powder room (gutted to the studs.) We absolutely enjoyed working with First Impressions. From our lead contact Frank (who answered every call or text - thank you Frank!) - to the team doing the work, they were fussy over the fit/finish, and overall quality - so we didn't have to worry. The King of Dix Hills! First Impressions completely gut and rebuilt a large luxury home on my street in record time. I knew that they were going to be the first company that I called when it came time for me to address some of my remodeling needs and I'm so glad I did. Paul, the owner, was extremely personable and accommodating in understanding our renovation needs and budget. He was always available to discuss any questions that arose along the way,which is really rare for a large construction firm. Excellent experience overall from start to finish! We fully renovated 2 bathrooms, created an open floor plan from the kitchen to the living room / dining room, built a barn door pantry, refinished our lower level (basement) and did white wainscoting throughout the house. High-quality work with strong attention to detail. Reliable contractor with constant communication each and every step of the way. Ideas to help us decide exactly what we want and great suggestions throughout the entire process. Paul is wonderful to deal with and Jimmy was a great Project Manager, always easily able to reach and constantly ensuring that we were completely happy with every step. They finished both on time and on budget! Highly recommend!!!

Terrible company! They messed up every single aspect of the project from not meeting deadlines (4 months instead of 5 weeks) to clogging a drain with garbage being thrown down the sewer. Construction crews weren’t professional at all and made tons of mistakes so we had to fight over every single detail to make them fix it. As of communication with the owner Paul - lies, empty promises and ignorance describe him very well. They ended up leaving our project disregarding multiple mandatory touch ups. Our attempts to reach out were ignored. They ultimately ended the project with a nail puncturing a waterline (which is still inside) which caused a massive leak over time. I would not recommend this company!

I was hoping to use this company for other projects in the future. The workmen were skilled and were able to work around all of the mistakes my project manager made. Measurements were taken incorrectly at least 3 times. There was no communication. Phone calls and texts were not returned. I was completely blown off by my project manager so he could work in a larger project. He had told me initially the job would take @8 days. It took @3 months because of his mistakes. I would never use this company again. Owner still hasn’t returned my call.
