I share the same experience as several individuals that commented. This company is completely trying to scam people. The toll that failed to charge my ipass (even though other transactions charged on the same day) ballooned into an additional $110 in late fees and the letter sent to my mailing address was improperly addressed. Supervisors are always unavailable, and are incompetent even once you reach them. I avoid this road and take extra time now. Edit: I was told to submit a dispute through the website and it is basically giving me an “AI” like response repeating the same thing that the incompetent customer service supervisors stated. The Houbolt Road Extension toll system feels like an absolute scam. For a mere 1.5-mile stretch, I was hit with a toll that somehow ballooned to over $100 all without receiving a single invoice in the mail. It’s hard to understand how such a short road could justify such an outrageous charge, especially when I wasn’t even properly notified. To make matters worse, the customer service managers are downright rude and dismissive, offering no real help or accountability. This feels less like a public service and more like a predatory trap for unsuspecting drivers. Praying for those who don’t understand tolls such as the elderly, or even just travelers.

If you're biking there is a paved (asphalt) path on the west side that bypasses the toll collecting devices. But I've seen bikers take the road through the toll collector, just for kicks I suppose. Don't know if iDOT sends them a bill :-). On weekends, which is the only time I'm there, only maybe 5 cars (mostly trucks) per hour pass by, so biking the road is quite safe, and fun, though I had one BMW zip by at about 120 MPH. Despite the convenience that I-Pass offers for toll payments, the communication gap between I-Pass and Houbolt Road Extension has proven to be quite problematic. I checked my iPass account and this toll road doesn't work with iPass. Instead these deceptive trolls send snail mail a month later to collect outrageous fees.
