I have a warranty with Longhorn. In my experience, before sending a specialist to provide an estimate, I was required to pay for an independent structural engineer’s report. After I submitted the engineering report, I received an estimate of over $15,000 for the repairs. I initially had difficulty obtaining a detailed, itemized breakdown of the estimate, including the cost per pier and other categories. I was told that itemized quotes are not typically provided. After follow-up, I eventually received a breakdown. Based on my own comparison, the estimate appeared higher than quotes I received from other companies, even with the warranty in place. I have a slab foundation. In 1998 the previous owner of my house hired Longhorn to install piers. Those have never moved since. I had Longhorn put piers around the rest of the house this last summer because of an alarming amount of movement. The bottom line is that they did great work. Some other observations are: This was not a supervisor trying to get good results from day laborers. The crew that came out to do the work was obviously very experienced with the task at hand, and with working together as a team. The outcome of their work was better than what I expected was possible. They paid attention to details, like where the mortar in the bricks had cracked. They ground it out and filled it back in. Sid and his team did a great job on my 21 piers foundation repair and root barrier. The front office was really responsive with clear communication of when the work will be done and answering of my questions.
