Lot 61 - 6th & Main Parking Deck

I park in Lot 61 in RVA. I was recently notified that my monthly parking fee would increase from $65 per month to $140 per month. That's more than double. I contacted City Parking and was told that the increase is due to "greater parking demand". While on the phone with the representative, I questioned this justification, as for the past 18 months, the parking in Lot 61 has been scarce at best. There has not been a single day when at least 40% of the parking spaces have been filled. Then, the representative stated that the parking increase would ensure that monthly parkers and commercial parkers were paying similar rates. Let's unpack this statement. Monthly parking option is priced similar to other parking decks. Never have trouble finding a spot. Like that I can pay online.

Gonna say 2 stars and here is why, the parking spots are not wide enough. The spots should be widened so its easier to get in and out of our cars.

So, I appreciate that things were a bit special on Marathon Day, but how can you charge $10 for parking and then just abandon the place for when people are trying to leave? From getting into the car after the race, to actually leaving the parking deck, it took almost 90 minutes. There didn't seem to be any attempt to get people out of the place. It was really frustrating.

Difficult to park when there was a line of people leaving due to narrowness of isles and closeness of spaces.
