High level club that balances top results with a great atmosphere, kids like each other and while excellence is encouraged and lauded it never comes at the cost of backbiting. Everyone fences everyone and hangs out together. Owner wants everyone on the strip as much as possible and open fencing is excellent - 40+ fencers common on Monday and Thursday, free for members and cheap for everyone else. Lot of strips, no waiting. College kids return over Christmas keeps alumni engaged.
Medeo is the premier women's epee club on the east coast. I fenced varsity Division 1 women's epee in college, and my eldest daughter switched from foil to epee right before the COVID-19 pandemic. When it became safe enough to return to club fencing, I drove two hours each way to bring Emily to Medeo because I knew it was the best possible environment to help her achieve a high level in the sport.
Love the place, lots of good fencers, nice respectful kids and great coaching staff!
