Messenger's Old West Museum

It’s a storage center with a museum! Nice collection of various items from arrow heads to horse drawn carriages to a bison leg lamp(you need to look around the front desk for that one). Donations only and we found it worthy of our support. The exhibits are creative but overgrown the space as we had to walk behind some items to find more displays to view. Not a bad place to spend an hour in Cheyenne.

What a pleasant surprise this museum is! I am amazed by the wonderful and unusual things they have. The collection starts out small and then gets really interesting. Many horse drawn vehicles including a royal coach, chuck wagon, and a beautiful stage coach. A nice selection of antique automobiles as well. This place if way worth a visit!

Best ever! Well laid out! Exhibits are extremely interesting! Great selection of artifacts to see. Large open museum, with carriages, cars and wagons! We visited several museums in Cheyenne and this was our favorite. We were coming from Pennsylvania. Our favorite item: an English carriage - what a beauty. Signage is also well done if you are a reader like us. Old western history at its finest. Please don’t be put off by storage locker posts? It is behind the museum, and the staff at the museum is super helpful and nice. Visit and you too will be impressed.

We moved here in 2014 and have never gone to this museum. Shame on us! Saw the sign, but it is hard to imagine anything really being there as it is located in an industrial area and at the entrance of a storage facility. Taking a chance, my teenagers and I stopped by and decided to go in. Right from the start, you know you are in for a treat when you step in and are greeted by the nice young lady at the front desk. Taking a little walk around, she gave us a brief intro to the museum, assured us that there was no cost (donations only - $5 recommended on the sign per person - definitely worth it), and left us to wander around. This museum is awesome! My little and I took a little homeschool trip here yesterday. The woman working, I didn't catch her name which is unfortunate, was so lovely to speak to. We felt very welcome as soon as we walked in. You can't tell from the outside of the building, but there is a lot to look at in this museum! From animals to arrowheads to vintage cars! It is free but donations are encouraged! Don't forget to sign the guestbook while you are here! My favorite part of the museum was seeing the quilts on display. They are just beautiful! My daughters favorite part was seeing the taxidermy wolves. This museum is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
