We're in the midst of a remodeling project at our home. We needed a 4x4 post that was a bit longer than the normal 8-foot pieces that are readily available locally. I contacted a few online lumber suppliers and was quoted a price for the post plus a hefty shipping fee. The shipping fee alone was going to be more than the cost of the lumber itself, so I started looking for other options, including local sawmills. I talked to Dan on the phone and explained what I needed. He said he could make what I needed and that I should come to the mill and look at some raw material. Today my wife and I drove out to Yorkville and met with Dan. What a fantastic experience we had! Dan showed us some different timbers and made a few recommendations. I cannot overstate how welcoming and helpful Dan, the owner, is. I’m a few years in to wood working but have only ever bought material from big box stores. I got Dan on the phone and he encouraged me to come check out what they have. What could have been an overwhelming experience turned out to be one that furthered my love of the hobby. Dan asked questions about my project, then showed me how to pick through the large amount and types of wood he had in stock to get what I needed. He also took time to show me some of the tools he had around the shop and what I could pick up to save myself money down the road. Honest and helpful throughout. I’ll be getting all my wood here going forward.

My husband about 6 years ago had purchased walnut for our counter tops and was so pleased. I dont believe the only 1 star review at all after my expierence today as i brought my friend with to purchase live edge wood for her mantles over the fire place. Dan from the moment we arrived in the shop was so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. My friend was able to get two different types of woid for her mantles. Dan was informative on every step of the way with cutting to the needs and desires of product. He even planned a cut for my friend to remove cuts left from saw. As far as customer service goes....i have never met someone so gifted in their trade and definetly deserves 5+ stars. Been over fifteen years since I've been to a lumberyard, but Dan made it feel right at home. Good, helpful fellow. Planed/jointed rough cut stock to the point where I could take over in my home shop. No complaints. Will definitely return for future projects.

We ordered a cord of mixed hardwood and I am extremely disappointed. We were told that the wood was kiln dried. No way. Lots of dark smoke, makes loud thud when hitting them together, lots of hissing and sizzling in the fireplace.. Ugh! There's is so much moisture in this wood that I have to wait at least a year to burn it in my fireplace,which is unfortunate because I'm running low on my previous supply. They were also supposed to contact us about a second delivery to drop off some wood splits for the smoker...never did. Then let's talk about the giant oil stains all over my concrete driveway from when they delivered it. We attempted to reach out to them regarding the issues and they have not responded. Overall, I'm very disappointed and do not recommend this company for firewood...
