our basement had a serious moisture issue that had already ruined one attempt at finishing it by a different company years ago. they had put up drywall and carpet and within two years the carpet was moldy and the bottom of the walls were soft and discolored. we tore everything out and just left it raw for like five years bc we were frustrated and didnt wanna throw more money at it. finally decided to try again but this time we wanted someone who would actually address the moisture before building anything on top of it.
