Payless Water Heater

My water heater of 100 Gallon were not functioning right. I had payless water heater from Orange county come by and technician spent 1/2 at the site. Tried to detect the problem with his instrument that were not working well. Called American Standard and tried to get advise from them how to detect the problem. He said 2 parts are not working and we need to order the parts and install to see if there are any other issues. He gave me an initial estimate of $ 1,350.00 to install the new parts. He charged me $ 149.99 and left. I felt what he is saying is not genuine. I called WATER HEATER WAREHOUSE for 2nd opinion. Their technician came and new what was the problem from beginning. I was directed to this company from socalgas for my water heater issue. Got diagnosed and told for pilot assembly and gas controller issue. I am not an expert so I had to go by the guys who are claiming ‘experts’ themselves. I was given the estimate of $525 to fix the issue and the technician said it would be an hour work job. Since it was an emergency, I even paid the express shipping fee to order the parts. For the estimate I was given compared to the time required to fix totally did match for me so I had a handyman I know to come and look at it. He diagnosd for gas connect issue and fixed it in 10 minutes without replacing any parts and all the complicated work process.
