Ruffner Mountain Limestone Quarry

My Grandparents lived at the foot of Ruffner Mountain, Queenstown Ave, when I was a kid. My buddies and I would hike up the mountain to the quarry, it wasn’t grown up that much then. I remember a cave, actually mine shaft that had an old locomotive sitting in water…… I always wanted to wade in there and climb on it, but we never did….would like to go back, but at 65, I don’t know if I could make the hike!

Simply a beautiful and peaceful place to take in the sights and sounds of nature. Some of the hiking trails can be a challenge, but well worth the effort. Some trails can be quite close to large vertical drop offs, just use caution and you'll be fine.
