On January 26, 2025, the owner of SP Rooftop Construction in Ashtabula, Ohio, came to replace a gutter that had pulled away from the roof of a property my wife and I own. The scope of work included replacing the gutter and adding a second downspout to help manage water flow during heavy rains. This second downspout was to be tied into the existing one for proper drainage. While the team did install the new gutter using 1" x 6" wood, the material used was warped and full of knots, preventing it from sitting flush against the building. The owner did install the second downspout but was unable to connect it to the original one due to a blockage caused by ice.
