Avoid This Company at All Costs! This spring marks six months since we moved into our brand new custom home—and we’re already dealing with some other serious issues. The front and back wooden columns have started to look moldy. This is yet another major problem that could have been avoided if Eddie hadn’t cut corners to save himself money. Now, I’m facing a huge financial burden on top of what I’ve already paid him. Once he secures a significant portion of your funds, his attitude takes a drastic turn. When we first hired Eddie Whelan to build our home, he seemed eager and motivated. Initially, we were impressed by the speed of his work. However, after he withdrew approximately 70% of the funds from the bank, progress slowed to a near standstill. The construction of the house's framework was the last time we saw consistent effort on the project. After that, getting Eddie or his team to show up became a weekly struggle for my husband and me. DO NOT WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE! My wife and I were looking to do a home addition to our house for a Master bedroom and bathroom. We met with Eddie in October and put down a $4,000 deposit to get things moving. Since then, we have not received 1 phone call. Not a single update on processes at all. We receive very little email communication from David who is supposedly the Vice President of Design and a woman named Lisa. Immediate red flags when you call a business and they don't done even have a ring tone, straight to VM. After 19 years our kitchen and living room needed an upgrade. Eddie and Steady Homes not only brought great ideas for us to choose from but they also took our ideas and made them come to life! Our run down kitchen and living room turned into something you would find in a magazine. Eddie takes extra time to add the small touches that make a dramatic difference in the space: adding under the counter lighting, lights in the upper cabinets, an island on wheels that opens up our space for large gatherings. It is absolutely beautiful! The team spent two months renovating. The only way we knew they had been there was from the progress they were making. The work is beautiful- when he does it. We have paid 80% in cash for a job that is approximately 30% completed. The work was to be completed within 2 months. It is 3 1/2 months later. In July we got 10 hours worth of work, and 10 hours the whole month of June. At this speed one wonders if it will ever be completed. Myself, my husband and my sister call or text Eddie daily, without any response at all. His mailbox is generally full and his office also doesn't return calls. It's beyond frustrating as well as concerning.
