Town of Cary Library Parking Deck

The place is really going downhill fast. Graffiti abounds though it's not interesting graffiti, just tags and curse words written poorly in sharpie. Of the seven Charge Point EV chargers only two are operational. I would mention which ones here but the two on the lowest level were obviously vandalized. The local teens like to hang out on the top level (they need space too) but they drift their cars in the deck early in the morning.

The thoughtful design of the parking deck makes library access during bouts of rainy weather very easy and I really like it! The town has done a great job with the deck and the complex in general (including the library and the park)! Outstanding!

Touted online as "safe and convenient," but not true! After repeated difficulties backing out of a parking space on a busy weekend (same on weekdays ever since the park opened), I will not try again. Often all I need to do is return a book, but there is no drive-up book drop. It is unsafe for pedestrians wishing to reach the book drop or enter the library. Some drivers are inattentive to cars waiting to back out, and some swing around corners too fast. Yesterday (Sunday 12:15pm) incoming traffic did not stop on the hairpin curve at the library walkway when my car and those behind me were trying to exit.

On Sunday July 6th I had a massage appointment at The Now and parked in the Cary Library Parking Deck. Unfortunately, my massage was cut short because a fire alarm started going off and they cleared the building. Upon exiting the parking deck, there was a parking attendant (orange vest) standing near the exit stairs with some people that had vacated the building. The attendant started yelling at me before I had even turned down the exit ramp, so I stopped and rolled my window down. She proceeded to yell at me to ‘use my eyes’ as I couldn’t exit that ramp because it was blocked at the end by a firetruck. I should have noticed that as I had walked into the garage that way, however I was spacey from having a massage and a jarring experience with the alarms going off. As I started backing up

Parking is very difficult to find ...and the parking deck could use more levels to provide additional spaces for downtown Cary folks and for those visiting downtown to access the Cary public library.
