Triana Tornado Shelter

Everytime there has been a tornado warning the Facebook page always says this shelter is closed. Is there a number or people staffed here to actually accept people? 5/20 when there was a tornado warning the page said the shelter was closed? What’s the point of having a shelter if it’s always closed! Please advise who to speak to during an emergency and if someone is actually monitoring the weather so people can actually enter the shelter!

I love this shelter. It’s clean, safe, and has protected us through many storms including a tornado that hit our neighborhood last year. I appreciate so much…the volunteers that dedicate their time to protecting the families in our communities. Inside the shelter there are places to sit, places to plug in and charge phones, and ability to have news regarding the storm. Although I’d much rather have no tornados and the ability to stay home I’m so thankful to have a safe place to go. Thank you guys!

This would have been a good storm shelter to take refuge in but they don’t allow pets, not even caged ones. My husband and I would rather take our chances with a tornado than abandon our fur baby who’s loved us for 3 years. Pets are family and you might as well be telling us to leave our children because they may disrupt other adult’s comfort.

Thankful that we have a shelter close by that we can go to when the weather gets bad. Volunteer staff is friendly and informed. Greatful to the volunteers that keep it up and running.

Very clean. Site was open when we went and staff was on hand. We felt safe being there.
