I would strongly advise against anyone certifying here from trying to certify with AWS or for LA City for the D1.1 SMAW unlimited thickness test. The proctor for the exam hasn't welded within 20 years. As he told me in his own words. He is not a licensed CWI. Nor does the machine have any proof of calibration by an approved company to be used for certifying exams. They are also testing with wrong polarity electrodes. The electrodes that are given are meant for an AC Machine not meant to be run on by a DC + Machine. I would highly reconsider testing here due to the level of incompetence and lack of knowledge by the proctor.
