When we went to finish our basement and use the rough-in plumbing installed by Vans Realty & Construction (owners Lance and Jason Haen ), we discovered the line had two bellies that were concealed under the slab. The work had passed municipal inspection at the time and the defect was not visible or discoverable until the floor was opened. After paying to correct the issue, we asked Vans to cover the cost, but they have refused and are attempting to shift blame onto us. We love our new Van's built home. This was our 5th build and we needed it to come together quickly as we were out of town for some of the planning process. We met with Phil, picked a plan we could work with, then had an architect friend make some big modifications to customize it. Phil was great to work with through all the changes ( some last minute). Phil was a real pro's pro. The subs did great work. The cabinets, flooring, tile and trim were all first class quality. Only a couple of small follow up items that were handled promptly. Van's was also able to adjust our closing date to accommodate our moving schedule. The selection process for fixtures etc can be intimidating but they have a system that makes it easy.

Bought a new build from vans in 2024. If you are thinking of purchasing a home through vans, it's best to shop around and try to get to know your home builder first. Me and a couple other neighbors that bought from Van's experienced issues with the home warranty they offer for the first year of the home. Basically it's like pulling teeth to get them to come out and resolve an issue with the home, if it means they need to fix something. Once you sign those papers and complete the purchase of the home, the customer service is gone.

We decided to build a home in January of 2019. We did a little research on Van's at the suggestion of our realtor since they owned the lots we were considering at the time. We did meet with three other builders, but we went back to Van's based on the fact that they seemed genuinely concerned with just us, not about bashing other builders. We broke ground in March, and the process was super awesome. Phil was such an amazing advocate for us and while we had no idea what we were doing, Phil was always there to assist us in this process. He met every one of our requests, made sure things were done correctly and went above and beyond when it came to making sure we were happy. Our home was completed in July and we could not be happier with how it all turned out. We love it!
