West Berkeley Fencing Club

My 7-year-old daughter Alexa, who had no prior experience in fencing, started taking group and private lessons a little more than a month ago. She is now so committed to the sport that she practices up and down grocery aisles as I shop. Her enthusiasm and dedication would not have existed if it weren’t for her Coaches George’s and Ryan’s very welcoming demeanor, patience and skillful teaching methods. One may be an expert at a particular skill, but it doesn’t mean they ought to teach. These two coaches can. I observed every lesson and I can tell that they do not talk down (oversimplify) to their young students- something both Alexa and me appreciate. With that said, I do highly suggest taking private lessons in conjunction with the group lessons as it hones the student’s skill set.

Our eleven year old son has been taking group classes and private lessons for two years. The coaches are great. I'd highly recommend West Berkeley Fencing.

This is a great fencing club! I love the atmosphere and the coaches. All the coaches I worked with were great with my knee injury and helped build me back up slowly. I'm sad I moved out of the area and miss this club a lot.
