I absolutely ruined my wood cabinet doors trying to restain them myself. It all started with me using a degreaser to clean the built up cooking grease off. Well let me tell you, that simple action took ALL the stain off down to the bare wood. I was so horified at my mistake. I tried to re-stain like 4 times with help from everyone - from the big box stores to my local helpful hardware stores to the floor staining guys and no luck. I was really ready to give up after months of trying to find a good stain match on my own. So I started going to lots of cabinet stores in hopes of finding a spare door to match my 8year old cabinets. I was having no luck.
