Burford's Tree

Did work to clear limbs in my alley. Proceeded to destroy my wooden fence, workers then used it to walk all over. Filed a case with Duke Energy and had a representative by the name of Hagen come inspect. The guy came to my property basically to insult me and say they didn’t do anything while tire marks led directly to my fence posts. Duke acted concerned but after a few times checking in on the car I was being disconnected from calls. Needless to say I have three young kids and must pay for a new fence in order for everyone to feel safe. All around unprofessional business. People can just destroy properly and not be held accountable if they are contracted through utilitiy companies. If you recieve a notice of utility work I advise to look into it if this company will be conducting the work

Just another one star review because they started working around and in our yard and placing equipment in our yard, blocking our driveway, with no communication or anything … they said they thought somebody put a door hanger on our door, but I guarantee you they have not… And I checked with our neighbors and they didn't receive any either. Looks like with 100 other reviews we are not alone. What a shame. I guess you don't have to pay attention to reviews when you work for a monopoly like Duke Power. Shame. You could still have human courtesy.

They were hired by Duke energy to cut down a large oak in my front yard, they were supposed to leave the excess wood neatly piled up. They ended up leaving my front yard a disaster. They left very large pieces of the trunk that weigh hundreds of pounds in the middle of the yard. They did not stack them neatly. They dropped pieces onto the yard leaving huge marks in the yard. They did not clean up the yard when they were done. I was ok with the stump not being ground out but the mess and the damage to the lawn are inexcusable. Easily the worst tree company I have ever seen in action.Stay far away from this company. Do not hire for anything.

I have a horticultural background & the crew that showed up to my house to trim trees near the power lines - hired by Duke Energy, had no idea how to appropriately prune trees. They poorly pruned two trees on our property that will take along time of professional pruning to look decent again. ...... (6/24/2025) Update: I submitted a complaint with Duke Energy and they had an arborist with the team come back to the property along with a supervisor (Aileen & Juan were great to work with) and work with the crew to clean things up so it will grow back in a way that hopefully avoids the powerlines in the future and maintains the look & health of the trees. I was happy with this resolution, but wish they would have pruned more thoughtfully the first time they were here.

I would give a negative number if I could, but talk about a company that feels NO responsibility to clean up or even not kill my ornamental trees and shrubs. Since I unfortunately did not hire them, Duke Energy sends them, and Duke does NOT care either about the poor service and downright hostile encounters with some of the trimmers. No accountability means they can do whatever they feel like or not and nothing that can be done by the customer.
