We purchased a 26kw whole home generator. They set it up and told us to run it 24-25 hours to break it in and they would come change the oil and make sure everything was working fine. At the time of install I was told not to install the app because it was junk. Hours after the tech left we did install the app. We manually shut the generator down at 22 hours as we noticed the app was showing the battery was discharging and the motor sounded like it was misfiring and tapping like an exhaust leak. The technician came out and found a wire was hooked up wrong and then pulled the spark plug to show me it was fouling out and the rocker arms that push the valves down were pretty loose on one side of the engine. He removed the valve cover and tightened the rocker arms down using feeler gauges, yes

My husband posted a 1 star review a few days ago. The reason being that our brand new generator has had the same issue twice now and it’s never run under a load, only the 5 minute weekly test runs and initial break in. So with in 25 hrs total run time, the same problem with loose valves on one side occurred twice! We went back and forth with Burkhardt and Generac. The end result being, Burkhardt wants us to wait and see if this occurs a third time before they will contact Generac and begin investigating the root cause of this problem. We feel this is unacceptable and believe this unit needs to be replaced. See my husband’s review for further detail. I have dealt with Burkhart AC/Heat for many years. My go to service person there is Bailey. He does everything for us maintenance, any repairs etc. Bailey is a super nice guy, very professional, trustworthy, knowledgeable and very decent. I always request him. Burkhart is a great company to do business with you will not be disappointed.
