Collins Landscape

I’m disappointed with the “screened topsoil” advertised at Collins. If not for this, I would give a 4+ with the rest of their offerings as it is a good operation but not with the two tons of topsoil. As you can see, there was glass shards and pea gravel throughout. I had already dumped and spread on my backyard to build up the base. I had to rake as much as I could after recent rains revealed the mess. Over two 5 gallon pales for one ton in my backyard. When I called to voice my complaint, they said it shouldn’t be bad. Glass shards where kids and dogs run isn’t acceptable. They need to QC their suppliers. Buyer beware of their topsoil.

Friendly staff and well stocked with a variety of landscape supplies. We purchased a few yards of the died brown mulch. It was decently consistent with size but had a fair amount of plastic and painted plywood contamination. I had hoped for a little higher quality for the premium price.

We had a pallet of stone delivered and they dumped it off the truck from 5 feet above the driveway, crushed or broke half of it, chipped the concrete driveway and was told that’s how they deliver stone. NOT GOOD!! They need to get a truck and lift to accommodate these deliveries.

Gary, the owner is fantastic. His initial interview he is always on time, takes the time and patience to review and discuss your request, ( never acts like he is in a hurry to get to the next job) does a thorough exam, and provides the recommendations and estimated cost. He tries to implement what you see as the result and the outcome is beautiful. I have used him twice and his price is well worth the quality and outcome. He always came each day by to talk with his workers to make sure the project is going as planned and to address any issues He never leaves until you totally satisfied. It is good to see someone who cares about a satisfied and happy customer- you can tell he is proud of his company! Yesterday, I purchased 230 bales of pine straw to be delivered. For 10 years, I have been able to cover my beds with 210-230 bales. The bales were so small that I now need to purchase another 30 bales. The same landscaper has been doing them the entire 10 years. I contacted Collins and they offered to waive the delivery fee but charge me for the additional bales. I declined the offer and purchased them from another source. I simply want the public to check out the bale size prior to purchase.
