Three months without heat in our home, and now it’s broken again!! We hired Dandelion Energy to install a geothermal system in our home in 2023. Part of the installation included a mini split unit for my husband’s home office in the basement, where he works 10+ hours a day. The unit broke in October and it took Dandelion three months to fix it - straight through the winter. Getting anyone on the phone during that time was nearly impossible, and when we did reach someone, they wouldn’t connect us with a manager. We were told it was a warranty issue with the manufacturer and there was nothing they could do to speed it up. They finally replaced major components and got it working. I've had a positive experience with Dandelion Energy. It took about 6 months from contract signing to completion of the installation, which was similar to what two other geothermal companies quoted. A lot of that time was taken up with getting the permits, an energy audit, energy improvements I needed to make to take advantage of utility incentives, and getting a heat loan. Once drilling started, the installation went quickly. Dandelion took care of the rebate paperwork and the permitting, and guided me through all the other steps needed for my utility. As if you took an incredible idea and put the DMV in charge... I've held off on writing a negative review for so long. I really want mass scale geothermal heating to work. I think it will do more for long term environmental health than anything else. I bought into the idea that by doing it at scale, Dandelion could make geothermal affordable. We had our system installed about 2.5 years ago by Dandelion. Geothermal is great, but Dandelion is not. They are using an assembly line method to cut costs. Engineers engineer, workers work... It's not effective. Everything is a bureaucratic nightmare. You can't get straight answers and things are communicated second or third hand. We started the installation process around April-May 2023. The energy consultant, scheduling manager, drilling, trenching, duct dealing and the HVAC teams were very professional, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. They kept us informed about what the process. They cleaned up nicely after the work was completed. Now the system is up and running for about 2 weeks and running smoothly. The cooling mode is very quiet. We are very happy so far.

Overall, our experience with Dandelion was positive, and like any large, multi-phase project, there were some inconveniences that were resolved.
