The first time that I went in there, I purchased lumber because of the terrible quality at Lowe's. It was really good quality stuff! This past week I purchased more and it has been aweful!! Twisted, not even a complete nailing surface, and bowed. The first time I went I hand picked it. This time the guys that helped me must've picked from the grade F pile. I sent some back but they were rushing to get me loaded and gone. One guy on a forklift almost nailed my trailer (24' enclosed) because he was texting on his phone. I think the people that work here are very helpful and friendly but definitely need to help those guys working in outside lumber. Would not let me add pics.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DONT LIKE DEALING WITH KAREN EGO! Was leaving the store and had to add gas to tank. I have a prostrate problem as most older men do and if I don’t find somewhere to pee quick it’s bad. So I squeezed between the open door and my truck and peed an oz or too and went back to my work. An Hispanic woman with tattoos all over her that worked there in the parking lot asked me what I did and I told her. She said she was calling the police on me for indecent exposure when she had seen nothing. So I dealt with that. NEVER GOING BACK TO SHELBYVILLE LUMBER EVER AGAIN.

When you walk in that store, you’re not just a customer you’re like family. They’ve all worked there for years and they know what you’re looking for and they’re not afraid to bend over backwards to help you when you walk into these big corporate chains you’re just a number and they don’t even check you out. You have to check yourself out but when you go to Shelbyville Lumber company, you can tell they really care about making sure you get what you really need!!! Great people and great experience too!!

I love the small town vibe, however the staff needs a lesson on customer service. Especially when they have already wasted someones time because of their failure to do their job.
