Tony and team did a fantastic job refinishing our floors. It was night and day the before and after photos. Tony was also super communicative throughout the process, flagging things to level set expectations of the outcomes so that we knew our options on how we wanted to proceed. We hired Golden Hardwood to do a fairly extensive refinish and patching job on our 100+ year-old fir flooring in a Ballard craftsman house. Most of the flooring in the main floor was in extremely poor condition, with large gaps and even some splintering. Several other flooring contractors refused to consider working with the existing flooring, and instead suggested tearing out the flooring and replacing with new oak. We felt that the original tight-grain fir floor still had life in it. Tony evaluated the floor and agreed that it could be refinished. And then he pulled up some of the multi-layered battle-scarred linoleum in the kitchen and main floor study, and happily discovered original fir that he felt he could also recover. Tony and his crew refinished our tired and scratched white oak floors. The last time they were finished was 30 years ago. At that Swedish finish was about the only option. It was darker (more red) and very toxic, requiring us to move completely out for a week after while they cured. Tony educated us about the options (including doing Swedish again) but we opted for the Bona “Classic” water based satin finish. We are very pleased with the results, and were able to live downstairs without fumes. The classic finish brought out more of the natural wood tones without looking red, yellow, or bleached out.
