I first reached out to Tia looking to build a new chicken coop to replace one that had become susceptible to predators over the years. When she came, she was able to look at our space and come up with a plan to make the best use of it not only for our chickens, but also for our garden. She knows how to maximize space, design for a flow that makes the work easier and she doesn’t forget that the spaces can be beautiful too. While we ended up doing more than a chicken coop by adding a new garden and small shed, this was not the result of any pressure they put on us to expand our projects, but rather feeling inspired by their quality work and the promise of everything flowing together in such a beautiful and cohesive way. We met Tia and Gabriel at the Wake Forest Farmer’s Market and loved the idea of growing our own vegetables even though we had no experience gardening. They came out to our house and evaluated our wants/needs and built 8 beautiful raised beds. Tia has held our hands through the entire process and so far we have harvested peas, carrots and Swiss chard. It’s so exciting!! Thanks to HalfABarn, we are gaining the confidence to continue this part of our health journey and are excited for future harvests!!

Gabe and Tia did such a great job building our garden beds! They have a lot of information and tips to give on gardening and even provided seeds for our first fall harvest! Tia and the team at Half-a-Barn Farm were great to work with. I wanted to start gardening a little and she has helped me build my first garden beds, complete with fencing to keep the critters out. The set up they built for me is pretty, yet practical. I was going back and fourth on whether or not to invest in a greenhouse or to build beds for veggies. I am going this route for now. She came out and helped me determine the best spot for the garden and was quick to send a quote and drawings. The first option was a little more than I wanted to start with, so she downsized my option and now it’s perfect. I’m looking forward to getting my hands in the dirt and hopefully growing my family some food we can eat and even can this coming spring/summer.
