We hired Heartwood for a significant remodel of our 1926 home—essentially a full renovation of the entire upstairs, plus an addition and some structural work to support everything. This was a live-in remodel, which was… interesting to live through, but Gabe and Jon made it as smooth as possible. From start to finish, they were fantastic to work with, especially Jon, who was on-site most often. The bulk of the project took about four months, with some finishing touches happening intermittently afterward, and the quality of the work throughout was excellent. As often happens with older homes, the final cost ended up higher than we originally hoped, but it was clear this was due to the inherent unpredictability of a 100-year-old structure rather than anything avoidable. Gabe & Tim were amazing in our recent full kitchen remodel. They were great to collaborate with and provided a great mix if executing our vision specifically as well as offering their own creativity and ingenuity in pulling off some ideas we had. Many times they had better ideas and execution than what my designer and I came up with. They have their own metal working shop on site and created the exposed shelving that are now the highlight of our kitchen. Thank you Heartwood!

I hired Heartwood Construction to remodel the bathroom in my 1909 coop apartment, and would not hesitate to recommend them to others. I was impressed with the quality of the worksmanship of their staff, and found owner, Gabe Engler, repeatedly working to make sure I got what I wanted. The project ended up more expensive than I had expected (no surprise there), and took much longer than planned. There were a few times when I wished communication had been better (as in when workers weren't going to show up for whatever reason), but I really couldn't be much happier with the final product. That is what counts! I'd use them again if I had another remodeling project.
