The amount they charge is criminal, and the only crime commited is being poor or forgetful. I've had power companies all over the country and the penalties of this company is ridiculous. Late fee of $30, disconnect fee of $40, AND then a reconnect fee of $40. And this happens two weeks after your payment is late. Oh, and don't forget the convenience fee of $3.99 for having to pay over the phone since they don't allow you to pay online when it's been disconnected. If you don't live local, you can't pay in person. Oh, and when you pay with the automatic payment system, their amount is incorrect so you have to do TWO payments, and therefore two convenience fees. We live in a heavily wooded area down a dirt road, so any slight storm usually takes our power out. Anytime I’ve reported an outage, it’s literal minutes later and they are already out here in our rural area fixing it! Plus whenever me or my husband have had to call them they are always nice even if they’re getting a crazy influx of calls. Our bill is higher out here than when we lived in Irmo but I prefer the customer service and response time that NEC provides. :)

In the past, I lived in an area serviced by another electric cooperative. They had more customers and more miles of lines.was a more rugged and rural area with more ice and snow and wind and tornados. But had way fewer outages. They had way more programs, too. And operated out of a simple building, not like the huge $$ building they operate out of in NEC. Spending our rates. Plus, the rates were lower at the other Cooperative. Here, with NEC, I'm constantly having outages. Employees I met are nice. But I don't like living with all these outages. Utility poles are old and not maintained. It's like NEC waits for the utility poles to break before they replace.

Spiked from $292 last month (which was high) to $475 on this bill cycle for February. Somebody has to pay for the storm/tree damage apparently. We had a total of 6 or so really cold day and some pretty warm as well. This is bullshit !!!!

I've had Newberry electric my whole life. We've always received prompt, friendly service. Even when we had issues making a payment or something catastrophic in the family, Newberry electric has always been understanding and helpful. Thank you for everything you do. Thank your wonderful technicians and workers. I have seen y'all out in the pouring rain, cold, and blistering heat, doing your best to help restore power to the community 😊 Wonderful job
