We have a sewer smell that we were trying to solve in the bathroom. The plumber they sent out (I'll call him N) convinced us we needed our main line jet cleaned, even though we were not having any mainline issues. We would know because we've had them before. Also there were no foul odors coming up in the front bathroom, which one would expect if the main line was the cause. He did not recommend the obvious remedies such as replacing the wax ring, checking the p-traps, or the ventilation pipes. Instead he upsold us on the more expensive (nearly $3,000) and unnecessary procedure. Then, without coming back inside to verify if the noxious odor was remedied, he packed up to leave, but not without attempting to upsell once again, this time insisting we need an epoxy liner in our main line for $1
