Port City Concrete

Nearly 20 years of construction and this is, by far, the worse concrete company I have ever worked with. They constantly fail to meet SCDOT specs so we have to reject trucks, they don’t show up with the correct paperwork, and they only have two or three competent drivers. If you hire this company, add ten percent to your bid because they will cost you time and money and whole lot of extra stress.

I went to pick up my 87yo mother for an appointment on Middleton Drive. Their concrete truck was completely blocking the public street illegally and would not suspend pouring for a few seconds for me to go around. I got out of my car to ask in English and in Spanish for them to move, and all the workers said, "No." I was told they would be done in a few seconds, and they were not done. I told them in English and Spanish they need men with flags at the previous intersection to direct traffic away if they are going to block a public road. The leader told me flagmen are the builder's responsibility. I said, " The builder is not here, so it is your responsibility." As I was traveling on nexton parkway this morning, one of their trucks come off the side roads from the left of me and pulled right out in front of me. Didn't stop nothing and I had to come to a complete stop so I called. Talked to dispatch guy named Ernie all he said was okay. I'll talk to the truck driver not hey how are you or are you okay? You know anything of that sort so this is what kind of company we deal with in our world today to make a report of how their drivers are out here driving and these big old cement trucks. And yes I'm in a big SUV but that's besides the point. The point is is if I wasn't paying attention he would have cream me right in my driver side and I have kids and a family and this is how I got treated

Arrived on time, driver highly professional. Had called in order Fri., they called Mon. To confirm and were excellent. Highly recomend. Poured 3 cement pads for large air conditioners and a box for the new multi box mail receiver Driver was so kind. Helpful, and hands on. Very pleased .

Had a slab of concrete put down in my backyard. It was going good everything was laying down smoothly all coming together. The truck driver fell asleep and had to wake him up to load up more concrete. The drivers hose ran out of water so i gave him MY hose to use to wet out the concrete. It all seemed to be going good from there. We only needed 3 wheel barrels left to finish and then driver decideds to tell us “sorry I have to leave because my truck is over heating but they’ll send someone else out” He didn’t even tell the guy who was laying it down for me. I called the company and they said they had to call that guy in because the concrete he was given us was bad and that they need to bring us some fresh concrete.............so why did he pour out bad concrete to begin with?
