Red Hawk Deck

Took my son Christian on a campus tour at Montclair State University today and parked at the Red Hawk Deck parking garage. The garage offers ample parking space. While they typically charge for parking, the fee was waived due to our participation in the campus tour. Montclair State University is a great institution.

Parking is very expensive and yet nothing works properly. Pay stations are down, cards won’t read at pay stations or exits. Only one exit cause major backups especially since the equipment does not work properly. Deck is not conveniently located to most buildings, so I’m not exactly sure what it is that I am paying for. We were guests on campus, and I found the whole experience to be very unpleasant.

There is only one exit that creates heavy bottleneck effect. Poor design planning despite its modern look. Service is consistently poor. Run by amateurs. Machines constantly breaks down. I mean constantly. Prepare to be stuck from the 5th floor leaving during rush hour because there is only one exit and the machine constantly breaks down. Very tight spaces inside. The 1st 5 floors are taken on a busy day.

I was inspired. My kid might attend.

We were lucky enough to park here well away from any peak hours when the lot would be full. With only the one exit I would imagine any rush to get out of the lot could be slowed like a lowrider over a speedbump however. Parking garage was very clean when we parked and it's great to have close parking where you can feel your vehicle is safe.
