Reed's Appliance Repair

This not a reputable business and I would never trust them in my home again. Reed’s Appliance came out to diagnose our oven, which was old but still partially functional and we were therefore on the fence of repairing or replacing. The bake element wasn’t working, but the broiler was so while I could use the oven, the temperature was about 60-80 degrees off from what the thermostat read. During the visit, the technician burned himself by touching the broiler, proving it was hot and working at the time. Honestly in hindsight, this should have been the first red flag because never have I ever seen a technician mindless touch an element that is known to be hot. Scheduling: quick and easy. Tech (Paul): friendly. But I was ripped off. Avoid this company. I was quoted $270 to diagnose and told this would serve as "down payment for parts/labor". The tech was in my house for 20 minutes and I was charged $270 diagnostic + $120 "service" to show me that my dishwasher filter was dirty. Even spending $270 on this doesn't sit well. But I spent $405, the "service" fee was just too much. It's not right. I even called the office to talk through this, and the woman I spoke with stood firmly by their pricing model and the "service" provided. Avoid this place like the plague. Very friendly and accommodating in the beginning, big surprises in the end.

The service guy told my wife The icemaker motor blew. He told her it would be over $500 to replace. When I got home from work, the icemaker was removed. I saw there was a block of ice where the ice comes so I removed it put the icemaker back in and it worked perfectly fine.

Terrible Customer Service - Seems like a common theme here based on other reviews. Called GE to schedule a repair and they had Reed call me. They were closed during the holidays and rescheduled for Jan 6th. Woman called to confirm appointments. I was explaining I have a work call and she became very rude. She said she would charge for cancellation. Not going to happen for a warranty repair. She became very ignorant and then hung up on me. I cancelled appointment because if this is how I am treated by the customer service person, I have no confidence in the repair. I hope they realize SHE is costing them business.

We used the Self Clean feature on our 6 year old range and it finished the oven door would not unlock. After my husband's troubleshooting via the manual and speaking to the manufacturer, we called Reed's who are on the manufacturer's technician list. The senior tech came out and diagnosed we needed a new electronic door lock and high capacity fuse. The tech called the office who looked up the parts, gave a quote and estimated time for part delivery, a week. Reed's called to follow up when the part would arrive and called us with a status and expected delivery. When it arrived they scheduled a tech to come out the next day and he installed quickly, tested it and all works! Thank you for the responsiveness, customer service and efficient repair!
