Purchased a storm door a few weeks back and installed it myself. Everyone was very helpful from the discount to the delivery. Once installed I noticed that the quality of the Anderson door was not what I expected. We purchased Anderson because of the name and Quality but found out otherwise. Having been in the archectual storefront business for 40 yrs, these small imperfections jumped out at me. A lack of quality control by Anderson needs to be reported and addressed. Not deburring connections, door stops and mid rail components cut short for a sloppy look. Called Shillings and reported it but as of today no one has reached out with the exception of a week end manager who said he'll inform people needed from quality control.

The experience I had at Schillings Lumber was exceptional! I needed two window locks to replace two broken locks. Adam was really patient, helpful, and resourceful in helping me find the correct replacements and getting them ordered. After visiting the store located in St. John, Indiana, I was surprised to see just how many other home departments there were at this location. They have kitchen, bath, windows, doors, so many departments! There is free parking, handicapped accessible entry, and excellent organization inside the facility! I plan to return for future home needs, and recommend you give them a try as well!

From helping my wife select the proper flooring colors for our home to pointing out, to me, all the other materials we needed to install our new floors, Derek was there for us every step of the way! As someone who spent close to 100k on a brand new house in Valparaiso, I honestly advise everyone to stay away. They are nice and helpful when you need to buy something, but once you have a problem, they won't do anything about it. We bought 4500 SF engineered hardwood flooring, all windows, door and lumber for 5k SF home. Our brand new $7,000 front door has a defective waterproof weather stripping and being in a house for only 4 months in, it all came apart. They sent me new strip piece and left me with it without fixing it. Now it's all up to us to find someone to take the door apart and reapply it. Do yourself a favor and go to places that have been here longer in Valpo and care about it's customers. Customers don't matter here. Kyle, the sales person cares even less.

I had a fantastic experience shopping at Schillings in St. John. I went in looking to do some remodeling in my home.
