The quote I received for a new deck was 5,200 everything started okay and then I was told it would cost more as the job went on. I never received what I asked for. I pointed out areas needing to be redone that were not screwed into place. I sent photos, many parts of the deck were built uneven, short cuts all over. On the last day he told me they would fix everything and he would come back the following week to make everything right. He only accepted cash and when we went to the bank I ended up paying 3,000 dollars more in cash. I was told because of taxes and adjustments. Also told the deck would be fixed and after multiple follow ups Bob never showed. For the money I paid and the result I got I am ashamed at myself for allowing this all to happen. The Powell Company has done many projects for me, and - let me make this crystal clear - EVERY SINGLE ONE has been done professionally, with excellent build quality, one-time, and within budget. Need I say more? For you skeptics, I'll include as many pictures of the last project as Google will let me. This project was supposed to be a simple porch deck replacement. Once Issac, Roger, and Tom started pulling up the deck boards, they knew there were more problems. As it turned out, the framing of the porch, as well as the supports for the second floor porch were SEVERELY compromised - they hardly had to use a saw to rip it all out. First, ignore the idiot who left a one star review and it wasn't even the right company. I am so glad that this time I listened to my gut instead of going by reviews. We recently bought a house in Oneonta and before we move in we have contracted The Powell Company to give our old girl a facelift. So far they have completed our roof and gutters on the few good days we had weather wise in March. It's honestly a miracle in my opinion and it goes to show you how dedicated they are to their customers that they work so hard and so fast. The end of 2024 I had a new roof installed with your Company, and just had 3 entry doors installed as well in the start of April 2025. All employees were very Professional, and completed all jobs with in the time frame that was promised. The clean up after the jobs were performed was like they were never here. Applause to the Company and the Workers for a Professional job done. Looking forward to the next item this year.

Powell Company has completed several jobs for me since 2019 - a deck, a kitchen/bath/laundry remodel, a porch enclosure and some yard hardscape. In the course of these jobs, they accommodated some real-time tweeks I suggested and also asked me for my preferences when options were available. Everything was completed per the contract specs and budget. I am happy with the end results and highly recommend.
