Water Street Garage

**DO NOT park here! If I could give a negative score I would. My Hyundai was parked here as the Water Street garage is advertised as safe and secure for parking by the City of New London and the New London parking Authority. It is recommended by the ferry service and promoted for events happening in New London. My car was parked here and broken into in less than 3 hours. The thief or thieves tried to steal the car but due to an updated security feature the alarms went off and deterred the theft however it was left with $4,000.00 in damages. Broken passenger window, ignition and driver side door were all damaged. The car had to be towed out of the garage. Do not park in this garage! There were 2 lanes using automated credit card machines because it was almost 10:00 pm when we got to the garage from the ferry. Each car was taking an extremely long time and we wondered why. When it was finally our turn the screen said ‘wait… currently processing’ and it would not accept our ticket. It was still process from the previous vehicle. After trying to hit the cancel button which didn’t work. We hit the call button and explained the situation. They asked for our ticket number and hung up. We hit the button again. This person said we had to go to another line to pay when we had 15 cars behind us and then they hung up. We hit the button again and that person asked for our ticket number, date and time on the card and said the only way it would work is i

it might be ok to park your car during the day but do not park your car overnight. It will get broken into or stolen.

My friend who drove us decided to stay the night on block island and gave me her keys to her car, which she parked in the water street garage in new London. When I got off the boat and located the car I drove to exit the garage. While waiting in line to exit I realized she never gave me the parking garage ticket. I told the woman attendant who was directing traffic. She said to pull up and push the button and that they would take a photo of my license plate and send me a bill in the mail. The lost ticket fee was going to be $150! The daily maximum is only $15. How can they expect you to pay $150!instead for not having a ticket if the daily maximum is only 15? No handicap doors so hard to get luggage into elevator vestibule. Lines need a repaint. Payment kiosk doesn't read card chip or have a tap option and wouldn't take AMEX. For $20 a day pretty sad.
