Zeiterion Parking Garage

I used the garage for the first and last time valentine evening. We arrived in plenty of time for the performance. When we were 2 floors in the garage the line of cars stopped. Unbeknownst to us, the top level of the garage was not plowed and still has a foot of snow on it. People became impatient and it looked like it might get out of hand. One car actually hit another while trying to leave. It took some time for the security people from the Z to come and get cars turned around inside the garage. Needless to say we were late for the performance. The Z is a gem in the city of New Bedford, for people to have a problem like this is not only unacceptable but imbarrassing to the mayor and people of New Bedford.

The top level was not plowed tonight--about two weeks since the snowstorm--and people who had to drive up to that top floor to get a parking space to attend the performance of the NB Symphony did not know that until they were up there. Cars became stuck in the snow, leading to a backup of cars from two levels down. Zeiterion security came to try to help but couldn't really do much except encourage drivers to turn around and leave the parking garage, which is eventually what happened. Some people abandoned the idea of going to the performance at all; others who attended late missed the first half hour of it. As a resident of New Bedford, I was embarrassed and angry that whoever the City of New Bedford, owner of this garage, pays to take care of it did not think to clear the top floor of sn

It's small but if you're going to the Z, this place is perfect. Stairs on both sides give easy access to Purchase St and Acushnet Ave. If you do go to a show, especially a sold-out one, plan on an extra ten minutes in getting out. It's also cheap ($4) to get a spot on show nights. However. I saw a hypodermic needle the last time I went down the stairwell. With my extended family including two little girls, this drops my rating. I get it on a practical level-- our community is in crisis. But this is more of an indication that this place isn't as well monitored as one would hope.

Great place to park, only 4 bucks for the showtime parking, but be safe, someone was hanging out in the stairwell smoking. I parked on the top floor 5, to be near the handicap entrance. When I returned after the show, the door was locked. I had to go to 4 and walk up in the dark.

Bad experience. Machines never work. Had to find a maintenance man to help me out. Do not recommend.
