I have been a loyal customer for many years but this morning's experience has me a little bitter. I went to get some propane filled and the two workers at the desk were clearly annoyed as I was interrupting some of their banter. In front of me, they said "Want to rocks, paper, scissor for this?" So that was awkward. If they were young high school kids, I would have let it go. They were grown adults. The man who filled it, got it from my trunk and to be courteous, I parked right by the filling station. He came back in and I thanked him. He said, "No problem" and said it was right inside... And I couldn't make out what he said (that's on me). I walked out and my trunk was closed so I assumed (again, on me) he placed it back in my trunk. I got home and it wasn't in my car. The service I received was outstanding! I am assuming the young man who waited on me was the manager as he had authority over the much younger associates on the floor. I was there with a door lock issue and couldn't find the size I needed. Since they didn't carry what I needed due to the age of the current lock, the kind man offered to rekey the old lock. I only paid for new keys. No, they didn't make the bigger sale for a new lock but they made a lasting impression that guaranteed I will be a return customer as well as spreading the word about their exceptional customer service. The kind man went far beyond what he was required to do and I am so grateful. Old fashioned customer service is rare but I recognized it immediately. Thank you to Coles, Selinsgrove.
