They obviously tried to scam us. The sensors on the garage door were not working. The tech tested the sensors and the wiring to the sensors was good. He then tested the motor by connecting new sensors to the motor. They didn't light up, so he told us that the motor was bad and needed to be replaced. We were quoted $740 to replace the garage door opener. We chose to do that ourselves. After purchasing a new opener, we tried his trick of connecting the new sensors to the existing motor and they lit up. The motor was good. After a couple of minutes we figured out that there was a bad electrical connection that we were able to easily fix. Not a bad motor. On the bright side, we're glad that the service call only cost us $29.
