Secret Gardener

Buyer beware: Love the look of this place. They have beautiful plants. I bought a fern for $35. Walked two blocks away and realized it had aphids all over the underside of the leaves. Brought it back and the saleswoman insisted I could treat the infestation myself. I said I understand, but simply don’t want to purchase a plant with such a significant infestation and would like to return it. She refused to give me a refund or exchange. Pretty disappointing.

insanely overpriced. these people are essentially trying to rob you. 4-inch common sedum costs $27 here, would be no more than $8 anywhere else. staff were unhelpful, plus some of their plants have mealies. avoid at all costs

Several years ago, The Secret Gardener built a beautiful, basic layout for my back yard in Catskill consisting of bluestone walkways, a patio, and a handful of ornamental trees and shrubs. I then filled in the rest myself, largely using their great plants. I'll definitely keep coming back!

Last Spring I met with “The Secret Gardener” two times and went over what I needed with him. He said he was excited about my project and would be glad to work with me. Four different times, after repeated attempts on my part to contact them, over a period of two months Ben (the owner) said he’d send his assistant over to do a layout and a drawing and proposal for the landscaping and earthscaping I was requesting. They never showed up. They never called. My project was massively delayed by months since I had to start the search all over again for another company. My neighbor was told the same bs stories. This company has a name that is apt for their behavior: what they will do for you and when they will do it is a secret. You’ll never find out when. It’s a shame because their space on Warr

The Secret Gardener is a fantastic oasis in the city!! The little green building and patios and walkways are beautiful and they have the BEST selection of annuals & perennials! Unusual plants & pots so beautifully displayed & the plants utilized in pots all over the nursery to give you ideas, one more interesting than the last. The owner, ( I think his name is Ben, he did introduce himself but I am terrible with names!!) is so friendly & knowledgable, go check it out, you'd be crazy not to
