A large dead oak tree fell in our yard and needed to be removed. I call Davey Tree and Matt came out to do an estimate which I accepted on Monday. Wednesday a expert crew of 3 arrived with the skills and equipment need to do the work safely and quickly. By noon they were raking up the wood chips. Very impressive job!

I contacted Davey on Wednesday, about my Japanese Maple tree that was in duress. It was being attacked by worms in hanging cocoons, all over my tree. Its beautiful leaves were 95% gone. When I called, I spoke to Carla. She was empathetic, and said Paul would be out on Friday at 9:30. I then began Googling & reading, soon finding the insects plaguing my tree. When Paul arrived Friday, he investigated the tree, and confirmed what I had found, “bagworms.” They usually attack evergreens, but they are known to latch onto other tree types too. Paul was very knowledgeable, and discussed solutions & how we could save our tree. We had a 40’+ tall black walnut tree start to die and tilt, Todd and the Davey crew came out, evaluated the damage and gave us several very competitive options. In the end we decided to remove the tree and we have never seen a team of 4-5 act in such a safe and professional manner. 4+ hours and from the safety briefing to the clean up these guys never missed a beat, there was 100 ways to make a mistake and by acting as a team they performed a safe and efficient tree removal. OSHA would be proud of this crew.

Davey did a good job removing a couple of medium sized mulberry trees from my yard, and trimming two others. They used a bucket truck to reach things. They were careful, and didn't damage any of the plants below. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. I wanted to keep most of the wood for firewood, and at at my request they cut the logs into easy-to-handle one-foot lengths and filled my garden cart with mulch. They sent an arborist first, to plan the job. This was very helpful because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do--I just knew I needed to thin out a row of trees that had gotten too big for the space. In the end I was very satisfied with the work.
