The Westmoreland Museum of American Art

Very nice museum. We really enjoyed the immersive display room. We found out there is another display coming next month. Looking forward to seeing it too.

A wonderful museum that keeps you engaged! Recently, we attended the Sunday Funday event. We had been here a few times, but had never brought our young children and we’re very excited that they were doing something that was exciting for them. When we first entered the parking lot, we noticed a really nice petting zoo. The kids got to feed the goats and pigs with a little bottle. The animals were thoroughly enjoying it. Afterward, we headed up to the museum where we spotted the newly unveiled mosaic bell out front. They had scavenger hunt sheets, where the kids could look around on the mosaic and try to find the items. Once inside, we were all excited to see the art maze. We attended a free homeschool day. I’ve been to dozens of art museums across America, and this was the most enjoyable museum experience I’ve ever had! The docents were so engaging and welcoming. Thank you all! We look forward to being back soon.

Met the dosant at the registration day. Friendly guy who gave us a map and explained the museum layout. He suggested we see the art pieces, prior to going in to the immersive art exhibition. Great advice, as you then see most of the art pieces put into an animated, chronologically ordered immersive experience. There are a couple of couches and a half dozen beanbag chairs to chill in. Simply amazing. Oh yeah, did I mention it’s free? No admission. Leave a donation or buy something in the gift shop to help support, but FREE!! We will make this a regular event. Likely quarterly. This is an excellent museum with changing exhibits, a gift shop and small cafe.
