Had my home built in 2012. Recently discovered that their fireplace installation was horribly done, violated at least two well-known building codes, and could have easily burned my house down. Charring was found in my roof due to violating the code about how close the roof decking and insulation could be to the chimney - not to mention violation of other codes. On the OUTSIDE of the chimney, the flashing was done wrong and the wrong screws were used - resulting in water damage. I offered to go 50/50 on the cost to do it CORRECTLY, which would have cost them all of $2,100. They refused and basically told me to go screw myself. I will now be going after them with a lawyer.
