I recently called SMO to repair my oil furnace. It was leaking oil out of the bottom of the oil burner unit on the furnace. I had them come out three different times within a week and they were unable to repair the problem. The technicians seemed to be incompetent and not trained very well. They left with the furnace not being fixed and leaving me with a fire hazard as well. After three attempts I called another company. And within minutes after the other company’s technician arrived he was able to properly diagnose the problem and able to start repairs on my furnace. Happy to say a job well done by a real professional. Now I have to pay SMO for a job there technicians were unable to diagnose and repair. In our experience, SMO’s service was incomplete, inconsistent, and extremely stressful. Over the course of multiple visits between December and January, our oil furnace was repeatedly serviced but not properly diagnosed or corrected. During this time, the unit continued to soot heavily and operate improperly, leaving us without reliable heat during a severe winter period. Despite multiple service calls, proper combustion analysis was not performed correctly during the early visits. We were later advised by an independent, third-party HVAC contractor that the furnace had been operating with incorrect burner components and settings, including an incorrect nozzle, improper pump pressure, and incorrect air adjustments. Was with SMO for about a year. Held Oil, Propane, and service contracts for two AC units and an Oil Boiler. Honestly nothing but problems in the first year. -Failed to keep us full on oil twice over the winter resulting in loss of heat for several day periods. -Failed to diagnose basic issues with thermostats and other HVAC issues. Techs seem barely competent and all very new. -Boiler tech literally did not know what an ignitor was. Listened to him be taught basic boiler operation over the phone by his boss. -Unable to service any of the hydronic portions of the Boiler, no longer do any plumbing work despite selling "service contracts" for hydronic boilers. -Pulled our propane tank with no notice, just came home one day and it was gone. Overpriced. They charge almost $5/gallon for oil right now, a full 30% higher then any competition.

Had them for about 2 years , pretty good response time and service. Unfortunately paying about $4.55 per gallon seems a bit steep.
